GeoFence

How to setup a GeoFence

my beacon can be set by the user to send a text message alert if the my beacon goes further than a set distance (e.g. 500m) from a specified place.  That is called a ‘boundary crossing alarm.’  This might be useful if it is fine for the person to go to a nearby shop, but you would worry if they wander further.  It can also be set to send an alert if the patient goes within a set distance of a known danger point.

  1. Log in to the site
  2. Press Advanced
  3. Click on ‘Add as POI’ at a time when the patient is in the middle of the area you want to set as ‘safe’.  Usually, this will be when the patient was at home.  Call it something informative (e.g. ‘Home’)
  4. Go to ‘my beacon Menu’ and select ‘Geofence settings’.
  5. Click on ‘Known locations’ and select the one around which you want a Geofence.
  6. Set the distance you think is safe.
  7. Enter the number of the mobile phone you want the text to be sent to.
