my beacon is designed to help locate people with dementia who wander. It is carried by them or attached to their clothes. It is similar in size to a small mobile phone and is charged up in much the same way. my beacon uses Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology to work out my beacon’s location to within a few metres. It then sends the location, via the mobile phone network, to the www.wanderingindementia.co.uk website.
Three easy steps
So, if the person with dementia gets lost then the searcher
The patient’s position will then be shown on a map and an aerial view within a minute or two.
GeoFence
my beacon can be set to send a text message alert to a caregiver if the person with dementia goes further than a set distance (e.g. 500m) from a place you specify.
Travelling abroad
my beacon can be set to work abroad and so is ideal for holidays.
Back-up when reception is weak
