When might a MyBeacon be useful?.

  • Is there a caregiver or family member who sees the patient often enough to recognise that s/he is gone?.
  • Is there an additional caregiver or family member that can search for the patient while another waits at home, in case she returns home?
  • Is there a caregiver or family member who can ensure my beacon is fully charged and attached on to the patient?  Or if a home-care assistant will attend to this
  • Will she tolerate my beacon and will not feel stigmatised by it?
  • How good is his/her road safety?. If you consider risks to be too high, you may need to ensure she is accompanied near busy roads. my beacon may however, be used as a fail-safe where the person goes out unaccompanied inadvertently.

Without support from caregivers.

Without support from caregivers or family members in using my beacon and in the event she becomes lost, my beacon may not be appropriate for your loved one.  However, if a caregiver or family member is available to support the use of my beacon, it may offer much-needed freedom and assurance to both patient and caregiver.  If unsure, you can email…

Advantages of MyBeacon.

  • Wearing my beacon allows your loved one to be found anywhere once they are not indoors and a mobile phone network is available. Try our Demo.
  • You can see their location anywhere online – through a PC, WAP-enabled mobile phone or our 24 hour call centre which will follow later on in the year.
  • You can decide which areas are safe and unsafe and receive text-message alerts, if the person leaves these safe areas by setting a GeoFence.
  • You can use my beacon abroad if your SIM card is set to roaming.
  • Built in Fail-Safes so that a location can be found even if there is a problem with the mobile-phone network or the GPS system. Click here for further details.
  • You can either Pay-As-You-Go (no monthly costs) or pay a fixed amount each month (monthly subscription). Click here for further details.
